Today’s Akajabong Volunteer Guide
Kang Jin-cheol will be with at least 10 participants on Route 9 this morning. Route 9 is the shortest of all our routes on the main island. Walkers need about 3 hours for completion. However, it is not the easiest as there are a lot of ups and downs over the oreum. Also twinned with Lebanon Mountain Trail.

Jeju Olle Trail News
September’s Clean Olle goes ahead tomorrow (Saturday). We’re meeting for 9am at the airport (Gate 1 Small Car Park) and will be leaving around 9:30am. Volunteers will clean the airport Olle link with the main trail to Route 17 and Dodubong. As I always write – trash tongs, trash bags, and a support car is provided. But please dress for the weather. Bring snacks and drinks.
I got another email from a walker in Singapore yesterday. She asked if Route 10 is open again. Yes, it opened on August 1, 2016.
Other Jeju News of Note
Ever wondered about the most used surname on Jeju Island? New statistics reveal Kim as the most popular with 145,540 users. Lee is second with 65,530 users and third is Go with 41,935.
Go is a name for one of the mythical Jeju founders that rose out of Samseonghyeol in Jeju City. Actually across all of Korea the third most popular name is Park. However, Jeju is special with Go.
