Today’s Akajabong Volunteer Guide

Lee Seong-gwan is guiding 14 walkers on Route 4 today.

Kim Seong-nam guided 24 walkers on Route 3A yesterday.

Also, Oh Yeong-ho guided 16 walkers out on Route 13.


Jeju Walking Weather Report


It is shaping up to be an unpredictable few days on the trail as Typhoon Chabas begins to influence the Jeju Island area. We’re looking at a high of 26c with lots of cloud today. Rainfall due with high wind, gales, fresh gales from the east later on. Please keep a close eye on the weather forecast.



Other Jeju News of Note

October 1, 2016, Jeju Island had its highest ever recorded amount of people visit in one day.

62,645 people passed through the airport (47,810) and port (14,835).

To put those numbers in perspective. The largest neighborhood on the island, Nohyeong-dong, has a total population of 55,044. The total population of Seogwipo is 175,909 or 35% of the population.

There were 15,000 Chinese tourists with 8,000 of those coming in through the cruise terminal.

The high number of visitors to the island is expected to continue until October 7 as holidays in Korea and China finish up.

Records began in 1995 and the previous high was on July 30, 2016, when 59,507 passed through in one day.
