Other Jeju News of Note

Hiking news for you this morning.

The Gwaneumsa Trail for Halla Mountain has finally re-opened in full.

A section from Samgakbong to the summit closed in May 2016 after a rockfall at 1,600m leaving the Seongpanak route as the only way to the top of the mountain.

Rockfall protection and safety measures have now been installed meaning this difficult, but extremely picturesque trail, can once again have hikers.

Also, the management office is looking at opening an additional route to the summit. This will be from the Nambyeokbungijeom (South Wall Fork) on the Donnaeko  Trail. As the Donnaeko Trail connects with Yeongsil and Eorimok this will mean ALL trails on Halla Mountain could eventually lead to the top.
