2017-02-14 (Tuesday) Jeju Olle Trail News and Updates


We have one volunteer guided walk on the trail for Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

Kim-jin and Kim Tae-eun are back out on the trail again guiding thirteen walkers on Route 14.

We have a high of 7 Celsius with little to no cloud and gentle breezes blowing in a south-easterly direction. Looking ahead we might have up to 16 Celsius on Thursday.

We’ve already opened sister trails with the Yangpyeong Mulsori Gil and Kyushu Olle. Now we will be opening our third – Mongol Olle on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar.

Mongol Olle Route 1 (14.5 KM) – The first route begins on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar in a small village passing hills, yurts, and forest before heading back into the village.

Mongol Olle Route 2 (11 KM) – The second route takes in Gorkhi-Terelj National Park with its peerless views of nature. Traditional horse and yak experience possible as well as staying in a yurt for the night.

For the opening ceremony of Route 1 and Route 2 there will be a special 4 nights and 5 days tour package with a return direct flight from Jeju Island to Ulaanbaatar with the Jeju Olle staff and other supporters.

*The direct flight there and back to Jeju will be operated by MIAT Mongolian Airlines and has 155 seats on a first-come-first-served basis.

*There will be a flight from Incheon Airport with Korean Air with 60 available spots also on a first-come-first-served basis.

*Air Busan will operate a flight from Busan and have 20 seats available on a first-come-first-served basis, but this schedule differs slightly. The flight leaves on June 16 (FRI) and returns on June 20 (TUE).

Itinerary (from Jeju or Incheon)

June 17 (SAT) – After arrival at Chinggis Khaan International Airport walkers will head to eat shabu-shabu and then check in at the Blue Sky Hotel (one room, two walkers).

June 18 (SUN) – Hotel breakfast followed by transfer to Route 1 opening ceremony. Packed lunch on the trail and move to Terelj National Park for horse experience and viewing of Turtle Rock. Stay the night in nearby Yurt (one yurt, four walkers).

June 19 (MON) – Yurt camp breakfast followed by transfer to Route 2 opening ceremony. Packed lunch on the trail. Viewing of Ghengis Khan Equestrian Statue. Return to Blue Sky Hotel for buffet dinner and exchange evening with Mongol Trail representatives.

June 20 (TUE) – Breakfast in hotel and tour of city taking in many of the major sites including the Zaissa Memorial. Korean lunch and National History Museum in the afternoon. Cashmere display. Mongolian BBQ for dinner.

June 21 (WED) – Hotel breakfast followed by further tour in the morning. Korean lunch. Shopping and return flight to Korea.
