Route 1-1 on Udo Island will be closing for the summer. It will close from June 1, 2017 and open again on September 30, 2017. The large number of tourists and vehicles on the island during the summer make it unsafe for Olle walkers. Trail passports without the Udo stamps will be considered complete during this period.
From August 1 2017, Route 4 has decreased in size. It was 23.6 KM, but now it is 19 KM.
This change will not be in any English guidebook or noted in the English language elsewhere at the time of writing.
In the image below the Route 4 start point is in the circle on the right hand side at Pyoseon. The route end point is in the bottom left side at Namwon. The red square shows the general area of the change.
Overall this should make Route 4 a better walking experience. This was our longest route on the whole of the trail.
Route 14-1 is shorter now (9.6KM instead of 17KM). The start point in Jeoji remains the same, but the mid-point stamp will be at the entrance to Mundoji Oreum, and the end point will be at O’Sulloc Tea Fields. The Gotjawal forest section after tea fields will no longer be included on the route due to private property and rights-of-way issues.
Route 15-B is open from Hallim Port to Gonae Port (13.5KM)
New maps showing changes to Route 5, 6, 7, 7-1, 17, 18 start and end points including length amendments
End point now at Soesokkak Bridge which is a few hundred meters before the original end point of Soesokkak Estuary. (13.8km – 13.1km)
The new start point will be at Soesokkak Bridge, but the end point will be at the Jeju Olle Tourist Center in downtown Seogwipo (NOT Oedolgae Rock). This shortens Route 6 considerably down from 13.3km to 11km. Route 6A and 6B will no longer exist as well. They have been combined.
Route becomes longer. From 14.7km to 17.4km. Route 7 starts at the Jeju Olle Tourist Center.
This route will finish at the Jeju Olle Tourist Center and increases from 14.7km to 15km.
Will finish at the Ganse Lounge in Jeju City. Not Dongmun Rotary anymore.
This will start from the Ganse Lounge.
